Liturgical ministry is an expression of stewardship and is a rewarding opportunity to share your time and talent with the faith community.
Liturgy is the universal official prayer of the Catholic Church. When each of our Liturgical ministers fulfills his/her function with individual integrity and respect, in service to the whole, this great mystery of the Eucharist and His Word will be more clearly revealed to our faith community at every Mass.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Eucharistic Ministers follow Jesus’ footsteps, especially at the table of fellowship that was part of His earthly journey. We want to experience a special joy every time we sit at table with our brothers, sisters, and Jesus. We participate in the “miraculous feeding of the thousands” and Jesus’ compassion, by sharing the Eucharist with those who are at Mass as well as those who are physically unable to approach the table. We share His Body and Blood so we can all experience His presence and love in each other. Ministers must be practicing Catholics, fully initiated into the Church and be at least 18 years old. Attending formation and ministry classes and meetings deemed necessary and required.

If you are a current EMHC, please see schedule below. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of Mass, and if unable to serve, please locate a substitute.

Proclaimers of the Word (Lectors)

GIn answer to the call to serve as a proclaimer of the word, the lector speaks the Word of God to the faithful assembled for liturgical celebrations. Through careful and prayerful preparation of the readings, the lector proclaims the Word in such a way that “the faithful will be able to hear it easily and grasp its meaning; and they will in fact spontaneously drawn to respond and participate in the Eucharistic liturgy,” for “in the readings God speaks to his people… and Christ himself, in the form of His word, is present in the midst of the faithful.”

Training by the Tepeyac Institute and Installation by the Bishop of El Paso is required to serve as Lector.
If you are a current Lector, please see schedule above. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of Mass, and if unable to serve, please locate a substitute.

Ministers of Hospitality (Ushers)

Ministers of Hospitality are liturgical ministers who help the people participate in Holy Mass. They help foster a welcoming attitude to all who enter the Lord's House and demonstrate their service by seeking the face of Jesus in all who walk through our door.
As ministers they seek to be attentive to the needs of those in the Queen of Peace community. In the event of an emergency, Hospitality ministers may be called upon to assist. Ministers of Hospitality must also be Virtus Trained with a complete background check and remain current with all assigned Virtus modules.

If you are a current Minister of Hospitality, please arrive at your scheduled Mass 15 minutes prior to Mass starting.

Children's Liturgy

We present God’s Word to our children (Kindergarten through 5th grade) as provided from the weekly readings of the Gospel of the Mass at a level to which they can relate and comprehend. We accomplish this through the use of Power Point presentations and adult volunteer leaders. Our primary objective is to make a positive difference in the children’s understanding of their faith. Takes place during the Sunday 9 am and 1 pm Masses in English.

Liturgical Environment

The Liturgical Environment Ministry at Queen of Peace helps create a prayerful environment to draw the community into a deeper awareness of God through creation. These stewards plan and coordinate the floral and plant arrangements as well as other decorations of the church during the different liturgical seasons. The environment in which we encounter Christ can help us become more aware of His presence, all for those who behold the decor of the church to enter into deeper relationship with our Lord.
